نعبد

Appears 6 times in the Quran. (Root: عبد)
  1. Say: O followers of the Book! come to an equitable proposition between us and you that we shall not serve any but Allah and (that) we shall not associate aught with Him, and (that) some of us shall not take others for lords besides Allah; but if they turn back, then say: Bear witness that we are Muslims.

  2. And when Ibrahim said: My Lord! make this city secure, and save me and my sons from worshipping idols:

  3. Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help.

  4. Nay! were you witnesses when death visited Yaqoub, when he said to his sons: What will you serve after me? They said: We will serve your god and the god of your fathers, Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq, one Allah only, and to Him do we submit.

  5. They said: O Salih! surely you were one amongst us in whom great expectations were placed before this; do you (now) forbid us from worshipping what our fathers worshipped? And as to that which you call us to, most surely we are in disquieting doubt.

  6. They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries.
