  1. So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress:

  2. Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your god is one Allah, therefore whoever hopes to meet his Lord, he should do good deeds, and not join any one in the service of his Lord.

  3. Nay! were you witnesses when death visited Yaqoub, when he said to his sons: What will you serve after me? They said: We will serve your god and the god of your fathers, Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq, one Allah only, and to Him do we submit.

  4. Call not this day for one destruction, but call for destructions many.

  5. What! makes he the gods a single Allah? A strange thing is this, to be sure!

  6. They have taken their doctors of law and their monks for lords besides Allah, and (also) the Messiah son of Marium and they were enjoined that they should serve one Allah only, there is no god but He; far from His glory be what they set up (with Him).
